Air quality in multiple parts of Sri Lanka has dropped to unhealthy levels, according to real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) data.
Areas including Kaduruwela, Chilaw, Akaragama, Digana, Hungama, Akkaraipattu, and sections of Jaffna and Colombo have recorded pollutant concentrations that pose health risks, particularly for children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions.
Authorities are advising the public to minimize outdoor activities, keep windows closed, and wear protective masks when venturing outside.
Meanwhile, New Delhi, India’s capital, continues to experience severe smog, with AQI levels reaching 344, sparking public protests over the worsening air pollution.
