It has been reported that Malimawe Hingurakgoda Pradeshiya Sabha member K.W.S.S. Udayakumara visited the Hingurakgoda Police Station to inquire about the welfare of his brother, Nilantha Udayakumara, who had been arrested on charges of obstructing the duties of officials employed by the Electricity Board, according to Sri Lanka Latest News.
During the visit, the Pradeshiya Sabha member allegedly attempted to secure his brother’s release by threatening police officers on duty. It is also learned that he reportedly snatched the mobile phone of a police officer during the incident.
Police officers then promptly intervened and arrested the Pradeshiya Sabha member, who was also reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time.
