Dr. Dayan Jayatilleke stated that the Sri Lankan Permanent Representative to the Human Rights Council successfully presented a logical argument against a resolution that is detrimental to Sri Lanka. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
However, he expressed deep regret that despite the strong reasoning against the resolution, it was adopted without a vote, as no request for a vote had been made.
“If we had called for a vote, at least a few of our allied countries would have voiced their support. Now that the resolution has been passed without a vote, the world may develop a wrong perception of Sri Lanka. That is unfortunate. I do not understand what this foreign policy is,” Dr. Jayatilleke remarked.
Attempts to contact the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and his media spokesperson for a response were unsuccessful.
