Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya has departed the island to participate in a police conference being held in China.
The IGP left for China last night (15). In his absence, Senior DIG Lalith Pathinayake, who oversees the Central Province and the Police Administration Division, has been appointed to act as the IGP.
According to the Police Media Spokesperson, Mr. Weerasuriya is scheduled to deliver a speech at the conference. He is expected to return to Sri Lanka on the 20th, upon completion of his official visit.
