- Some are from state media! Even officials from KDU (General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University) have gone! What exactly are they going to learn?
- While the world stands in solidarity with Palestine, Sri Lanka is sending journalists to Israel! At a time when the global community is opposing Israel,
- The government is waiving visa fees for travel to Israel! What kind of double standards are these?”
In Parliament, MP Mujibur Rahuman revealed that 16 Sri Lankan journalists participated in a tour of Israel, a country accused of killing 248 journalists. He emphasized that this is a serious issue and questioned whether the JVP (Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna), which historically stood for Palestine, is now siding with Israel.
This statement reflects strong criticism of the Sri Lankan government’s perceived shift in foreign policy and media alignment, especially in the context of global condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza.
