Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake have been summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to provide statements in two separate cases.
Mr. Rajapaksa has been asked to appear before the CID tomorrow to give a statement concerning remarks made by former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon, who alleged that Mr. Rajapaksa failed to prevent the attack on ‘Aragalaya’ protesters at Galle Face Green.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ekanayake has also been directed to appear before the CID tomorrow to provide a statement regarding former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s visit to the United Kingdom and allegations of misuse of state funds connected to the trip.
In addition, another statement is expected to be recorded from Mr. Ekanayake.
