United National Party (UNP) Chairman Vajira Abeywardena has been summoned to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) in connection with an investigation into alleged embezzlement.
According to reports, Abeywardena was questioned by investigators for nearly eight hours.
The FCID has also initiated inquiries into 28 other politicians, along with a former Army Commander, over allegations of misappropriation of funds.
