Parliamentarian Sujeewa Senasinghe appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) this morning (14) to provide a statement regarding the incident involving an illegally parked vehicle.
He concluded his visit after giving a statement that lasted approximately three hours.
Addressing the media following the session, MP Senasinghe revealed that this was the fourth time he had recorded a statement concerning the matter. He criticized the current administration, stating that it had resorted to targeting individuals engaged in politics.
“This is my fourth statement. The newspapers claim I refuse to make statements — that’s a lie. If the country were developing, we wouldn’t be falling behind. I don’t know where this will end, but I’m facing it willingly,” he said.
Mr. Senasinghe further alleged that such actions are attempts to discourage honest individuals from engaging in politics.
“Many people are disillusioned with politics. It’s gotten to the point where, in the absence of decent people, thuggery is becoming a profession in politics. I will face all of this with courage,” he added.
