Following the decentralization of the President’s Fund operations to Divisional Secretariats, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of medical aid applications submitted. This shift has also highlighted the urgent need to educate and train staff at the Divisional Secretariats on the new computer-based online system.
As part of this initiative, a comprehensive training program has been scheduled to take place on June 21, 2025, at the Kilinochchi District Secretariat. The session will cater to Divisional Secretaries and relevant subject officers responsible for managing President’s Fund-related matters in the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, and Vavuniya districts of the Northern Province.
This training aims to expand the reach of the President’s Fund within the Northern Province by increasing the number of beneficiaries, enhancing the quality of services provided, introducing modern online systems, and ensuring faster, more efficient service delivery.
A key goal of the Board of Governors, under the leadership of the current President, has been to transform the President’s Fund—which previously served a limited group through centralized operations in Colombo—into a truly nationwide initiative that benefits citizens across all regions. In line with this vision, similar training programs are planned for other provinces in the near future.
