President Anura Kumara Dissanayake shared a statement on his official Facebook page regarding a meeting held with the Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Richard Marles, during his official visit to Sri Lanka.
The discussions took place this morning (03) at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding economic and political ties between Sri Lanka and Australia, which span over 70 years. Both parties explored avenues to further enhance bilateral cooperation in multiple areas.
President Dissanayake also expressed his appreciation for the continued support extended by the Australian government, particularly in the fields of maritime security, combating illegal trade, human trafficking, terrorism, and the prevention of arms smuggling.
