The Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Richard Marles, will arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow (03) for an official visit, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment, and Tourism.
During his stay, Deputy Prime Minister Marles is scheduled to hold meetings with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath. Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya is also expected to participate as the chief guest at a special luncheon hosted at Australia House in honour of the visiting Deputy Prime Minister.
In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Marles is set to hold bilateral discussions with Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara. The visit aims to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral relationship and deepen defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and Australia, the Ministry said.
The Deputy Prime Minister will be accompanied by officials from the Australian Prime Minister’s Office, the Department of Defence, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment, and Tourism added in its statement.
