New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Winston Peters, has arrived in Sri Lanka for an official visit. He landed on the island last night, May 24, and was warmly welcomed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arun Hemachandra.
This marks the first visit by a New Zealand Foreign Minister to Sri Lanka since 2013.
During his stay, Minister Peters is expected to hold meetings with key Sri Lankan officials, including President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, and Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s official visit to Sri Lanka will last until May 28.
Following his time in Sri Lanka, Winston Peters will continue his tour, with planned visits to Australia, Nepal, and India.
