Former U.S. President Donald Trump made bold remarks during a Republican dinner on Tuesday, claiming that countries would “kick my ass” just to negotiate tariffs with him.
Recounting conversations with foreign leaders, Trump stated, “Some people tell me, ‘I’ll do anything, sir.’”
He went on to emphasize his confidence in future negotiations, saying, “We’re going to do a lot better this time than last time, because this time I’m going to do what I want to do on tariffs.”
Trump also criticized the involvement of Congress in such matters, asserting, “They don’t negotiate the way I negotiate,” and argued that lawmakers should not play a role in tariff negotiations.
