Sandamali Chandrasekara has been appointed as the Chairman of Lanka Sugar Company, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Rukshan Gunathilaka.
In addition, Deepika K. Gunaratne has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.
Following their appointments, the new Chairman and CEO recently visited the Pelwatte and Sevanagala sugar factories. During their visit, they engaged with key officials of the institutions, trade union representatives, employees, and farmers to discuss operational matters.
Meanwhile, buyers have been formally notified that due to an ongoing audit by the State Audit Department at the sugar warehouses of the Pelwatte and Sevanagala units, the loading of brown sugar will be temporarily suspended from the 24th of March to the 2nd of April.
This announcement was issued in writing, bearing the signature of Chairman Sandamali Chandrasekara. The letter further confirms that loading operations will resume as usual once the audit process is completed.
