Former State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe, has extended his gratitude to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank for their support in helping Sri Lanka navigate its economic crisis. His appreciation comes following a visit to Washington, USA, where he engaged with representatives from both institutions.
Following his meetings, Semasinghe shared a note on platform X, acknowledging the vital role played by the IMF, the World Bank, and all stakeholders in stabilizing Sri Lanka’s economy.
“The support provided during our tenure helped us overcome the worst economic crisis we have ever faced within two years. The commitment and assistance from the IMF, the World Bank, and all stakeholders were instrumental in stabilizing our economy and steering it towards sustainable growth,” he stated.
His remarks highlight the significance of international cooperation in Sri Lanka’s economic recovery efforts.
