Colombo, Sri Lanka – A suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Sanjeewa Kumara Samararatne, also known as Ganemulla Sanjeewa, an organized criminal who was shot dead at the Aluthkade No. 05 Magistrate’s Court on the 19th of this month.
According to Police Headquarters, the arrest was made by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD).
The latest suspects taken into custody yesterday (24th) are 23-year-old Pingpura Devage Chamidu Thiwanka Weerasinghe, a resident of Katuwellegama, Negombo, and 48-year-old Sesathpura Devage Samanthi. They have been arrested on charges of aiding and abetting the murder while being aware of the crime.
Investigations have revealed that the two suspects are the mother and younger brother of Ishara Sewwandi, the main suspect in the murder.
With these latest arrests, the total number of suspects apprehended in connection with the case has risen to 10.
The Colombo Crimes Division continues to conduct further investigations.
