Jaffna District National People’s Power (NPP) MP K. Ilankumaran was involved in a road accident in the Chavakachcheri area.
The accident occurred while the MP’s vehicle was traveling from Kilinochchi to Jaffna. A small lorry, moving ahead of the MP’s car, suddenly turned towards Chavakachcheri, resulting in a collision with the MP’s vehicle from behind.
MP Ilankumaran, his assistant, and the driver sustained injuries and have been admitted to Jaffna Teaching Hospital for treatment. The Chavakachcheri police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, another NPP parliamentarian, Puttalam District MP Mohamed Faisal, was also involved in a road accident the day before yesterday (14th). The accident occurred while he was driving from Puttalam to Colombo via Madampe.
