A significant meeting between the UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, Catherine West, and Sri Lanka’s Opposition Leader, Sajith Premadasa, was held today in Colombo.
The discussions were attended by Mr. Rob Core, the British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Mr. Andrew Patrick, and Mr. Alexander Smith, the Second Secretary of the British High Commission.
During the meeting, Catherine West and Sajith Premadasa engaged in comprehensive discussions on various economic, social, and political challenges facing Sri Lanka. The Opposition Leader urged the UK Minister to extend the necessary support to help Sri Lanka address its ongoing economic difficulties. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing promotional activities to attract more tourists from the United Kingdom, which would greatly benefit the country’s economy.
Representing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, former MP Eran Wickramaratne, MP Harshana Rajakaruna, Mujibur Rahuman, and Kavinda Jayawardena were also present at the event.
