Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has submitted a Fundamental Rights Petition to the Supreme Court, seeking the reinstatement of his security detail, which was recently reduced.
The petition names Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and several Cabinet members as respondents.
According to the filing made by Rajapaksa’s legal representatives, his security detail was significantly scaled down, leaving only 60 officers assigned to his protection. The petition argues that this reduction was implemented without conducting a proper security assessment.
