An audit carried out by the Audit Department has uncovered that 396 officers of the Land Reforms Commission (LRC) have allocated government lands, each measuring 20 perches, at a highly undervalued price of Rs. 1,000 per perch.
These officers reportedly distributed the lands under the justification that completing five years of service at the LRC entitles an individual to such a benefit as a mandatory right.
The National Audit Office has stated that this privilege was secured by misinterpreting provisions within the Land Reforms Commission Act.
