The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is now reportedly gearing up to conduct a comprehensive investigation into these allegations. This inquiry is expected to cover all aspects, including the context in which Weerawansa made the statement, the basis of his claims, the sources of the information, its verification process, and whether supporting evidence such as photographs or other confidential materials exists.
As part of this investigation, the CID has reportedly summoned former MP Wimal Weerawansa to appear before them on January 3.
