The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has emerged victorious in the decisive Moratuwa Cooperative Election, defeating the National People’s Power (NPP) by a narrow margin of two votes.
In this closely contested election, the SJB secured 51 votes, while the NPP garnered 49 votes.
A notable highlight of the election was the defeat of a doctor, representing the Malaima constituency, who had contested for the position of Chairman but failed to secure a win in his own constituency.
The SJB’s successful campaign was spearheaded by former Provincial Councilor Senaka Damayantha, whose leadership played a pivotal role in the party’s triumph.
