A car without registered number plates was discovered today (26) at a residence owned by the wife of former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte.
According to statements given to police by the former State Minister and his wife, the vehicle had been brought to the property’s garage by Ratwatte’s personal secretary, who passed away a few days prior.
Police Headquarters had been alerted to the presence of the unregistered luxury vehicle at a three-storey home on Embuldeniya Hall Road, Mirihana, linked to the former State Minister’s wife. Acting on this information, the Mirihana Police reported the incident to the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court and conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle.
Both the former minister and his wife provided statements to the police regarding the vehicle. According to their testimony, the mother of Ratwatte’s wife resides in the residence in question. They further explained that the former minister’s private secretary, who was recently killed in a shooting incident in Katugastota, Kandy, had parked the vehicle at the residence’s garage approximately three weeks ago.
With no keys and lacking registered number plates, police managed to transport the luxury car to the Mirihana Police Station with significant effort. The Government Analyst is set to examine the vehicle tomorrow (27), with further investigations to follow, as confirmed by police sources.
