The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to expedite its investigation into the recent scholarship exam controversy.
In response, the CID has agreed to systematically record statements from the parents who have lodged complaints regarding the matter.
Additionally, the Human Rights Commission has instructed education authorities to refrain from making any decisions related to the scholarship exam papers until the CID investigation report is released.
Approximately 324,000 students sat for the Grade 5 scholarship exam on the 15th of this month. However, concerns arose after reports surfaced that the first question paper had been leaked prior to the exam. As a result, the evaluation of the answer sheets has been temporarily halted pending the outcome of the investigation.
