A protest took place today (08) outside the main entrance of the Oval Stadium, ahead of the third day of the Sri Lanka-England third Test match.
The demonstration was organized by a group of Sri Lankan Tamils residing in the UK. They called on the International Cricket Council (ICC) to ban Sri Lankan cricket, citing human rights violations committed by the Sri Lankan state.
Protesters claimed that the Tamil community in Sri Lanka is being denied basic rights, alleging ongoing human rights abuses and war crimes committed by the country.
During the protest, participants displayed the official logo of the banned LTTE organization, and even young children were involved in the demonstration.
According to our reporter, protesters voiced their allegiance to Velupillai Prabhakaran, the deceased LTTE leader, and expressed their rejection of the current leadership in Sri Lanka.
