The Election Commission held a special press conference this morning, announcing that the presidential election will be scheduled before the end of this month.
Following the announcement, Pohottu Party founder Basil Rajapaksa, National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa, and Secretary General Sagara Kariyawasam visited the Election Commission.
After their meeting, the Pohottu Party representatives spoke to the media, urging that the election not be postponed under any circumstances. Namal Rajapaksa emphasized that the specific length of the President’s term, whether five or six years, is not a priority at the moment.
