The Department of Meteorology reports that the ongoing windy conditions over the island are expected to persist due to the active Southwest Monsoon.
Showers or thundershowers are anticipated at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Some areas in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts may experience fairly heavy showers of approximately 75 mm.
Strong winds ranging from 50-60 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee, Monaragala, and Hambantota districts.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times in other parts of the island.
