A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court has been appointed to consider the petition that was filed asking for a verdict that the constitution is being violated by conducting the upcoming presidential election.Sri Lanka Latest News
Accordingly, the relevant petition will be considered next Monday (15) before the three-member Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Arjuna Obeysekera and Priyantha Fernando.
The petition was presented by lawyer Mr. Aruna Laksiri Unawatuna.
It further states that since the 19th Amendment of the Constitution has not been passed formally, it should be referred to a referendum and a decision be made that the Constitution will be violated by holding the next presidential election until it is approved.
