In the letter signed by 30 MPs, they have requested the Election Commission to hold the presidential election on the first day it can be held.
Among them, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Rauf Hakeem, Udaya Gammanpila, Athuraliye Ratana Thero and others are a group of MPs.
It shows that it is no secret that the current government, which is worried about the possible defeat in the upcoming presidential election, is trying to postpone the presidential election by using various tactics.
It is stated in the article that the term of office of the President is 5 years and the Supreme Court has confirmed it on three occasions.
Therefore, the letter requested that arrangements be made to hold the presidential election on the first possible day and that the election be held in a free and fair atmosphere and that the commission’s legal powers be exercised.
