Mr. Sumedha Somaratne, President of the Railway Station Master’s Association, said this afternoon (10) that the Railway Station Master’s Association decided to continue the strike due to the attempt to pressure and suppress the symbolic strike which started yesterday (9) at midnight. He said that the General Manager of Railways had issued a notice forgetting the demand of the station masters and declaring it an essential service.
He said that the General Manager of Railways is working without knowing the North and South of the Railway Department and he is waiting to see how the trains will operate without 922 station masters.
