He said that by now the renovation works of the railway line have been almost completed.
“Currently, the work on this road is being completed. Strong repairs were made by laying rails and sleepers. According to the engineering works of the road maintenance unit, only the placement of granite pieces between the sleepers is left. It will also be completed soon. The road maintenance unit has informed us that the train is now ready to run. Mr. Vissundara said.
Due to this, it has been decided to resume the train operation and the railway officials say that due to the separate construction of this line from Anuradhapura main station to Mihintalea, it can run without affecting the northern railway line.
It is also reported that steps have been taken to provide the opportunity for the pilgrims going to Mihinthalaya shrine on Poson days to travel by train without charging travel fees.
