The first public rally of the new alliance led by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party was recently held in Ambalantota town (Sri Lanka Latest News).

This rally, themed “For the Winning Country – Together for the Future,” featured 21 members of Parliament from various parties. Additionally, five MPs currently abroad have indicated their intention to join the alliance in the future.

The event was organized by Hambantota District MP, Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, and Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industry, Mahinda Amaraweera. Notably, no participants from other districts of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party attended; all attendees were from Hambantota District. Despite requests from other MPs to allow participants from other districts, Mahinda Amaraweera insisted on bearing the full responsibility for the meeting and restricting attendance to local constituents.

During the rally, all speakers referred to Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva as the leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. The meeting, which began at around 2:30 PM, continued until 5:00 PM.

Key attendees included Nimal Siripala de Silva, Mahinda Amaraweera, Duminda Dissanayake, Susil Premajayantha, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Nimal Lanza, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, MP A. H. Musharraf of the Muslim Congress, Ali Sabri, Advocate Premanath C. Dolawatta, Suren Raghavan, Chamara Sampath Dasanayake, John Senaviratne, Udayakanta Gunathilake, 21 MPs, and 100 organizers, including district leaders of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha praised the success of the rally and expressed gratitude to Mahinda Amaraweera for organizing it. He criticized the former president of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party for removing a group from the party based on ill advice and challenged those removed to contest in the presidential election.

Duminda Dissanayake, MP and Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, emphasized the unity of the party members and expressed confidence in winning the upcoming presidential and general elections with the new alliance.

Nimal Siripala de Silva called the day historic, marking the beginning of a significant alliance aimed at changing the country. He criticized former party president Maithripala Sirisena for delaying the formation of the alliance and assured that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party is now in reliable hands. He announced plans for future rallies in Monaragala, Badulla, and other districts, aiming to gather more support.

Chamara Sampath Dasanayake praised Mahinda Amaraweera’s efforts in organizing the rally and criticized opposition leaders Sajith and Anura for their economic policies.

Mahinda Amaraweera highlighted the rally’s purpose to demonstrate the strength of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and thanked the people of Hambantota for their support. He recounted the country’s struggles two or three years ago and credited Ranil Wickramasinghe for stabilizing the nation. He emphasized the importance of continued support for Wickramasinghe to prevent the country from falling into further crisis. Amaraweera also expressed confidence in the new alliance’s ability to solve the country’s problems and announced plans to create the largest political alliance in recent times.

In addition to Amaraweera, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and A. H. Musharraf also shared their views during the rally.
