The 15th National War Heroes Day celebration ceremony to honour the war heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the unity of the motherland was held yesterday (19th) in front of the War Heroes Memorial at the Battaramulla Parliament Stadium under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. Former President Mahinda Rajapakse, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, and security chiefs, as well as parents and relatives of war heroes, retired three armed forces officers participated in this celebration as the Prime Minister laid wreaths at the foot of the War Heroes Memorial and paid homage to the war heroes.
