The latest International News reported today (20) that Ibrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, died in a helicopter crash in a mountainous region of the country yesterday (19).
Following this tragic event, discussions have arisen regarding the next president of Iran.
According to the country’s constitution, an interim president must be appointed. The current “First Deputy President” will assume this role.
Currently, 68-year-old Mohammad Mokbar holds this position. International media have reported that Mokbar will be named the interim president.
A three-man council, including Mokbar, organises a new presidential election within 50 days. The other two council members are the Speaker of Parliament and the Chief Justice.
