The live auction to select an investor for SriLankan Airlines’ divestment is scheduled to take place today (March 5).
As a result, the bidding will be conducted live from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, according to Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation, who appeared on Ada Derana’s ‘GET REAL’ segment last week.
Meanwhile, the minister has appointed a special technical committee to assist with the live auction process.
Following the evaluation of the bids, a report will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers.
“I want someone strong to come forward, who can invest at least USD 500 million and ensure job security for the 6,000 people who are working in the airline,” the lawmaker went on to say.
