A spokesperson of the Fisheries Department said that the vessel carrying fishermen has been hijacked in the Arabian Sea.
Somali pirates have hijacked the multi-day fishing vessel “Lorenzo Son 04” and 06 fishermen on board, which sailed from Halawata, Dikowita fishing harbor on the 12th.
It is reported that the abduction took place in the sea area which is 1160 nautical miles away from the Sri Lankan coast.
The authorities mentioned that necessary measures are being taken to rescue the abducted fishermen.
