The Sri Lanka Cricket has issued a statement regarding the statement made by Sports Minister Mr Roshan Ranasinghe in Parliament that the Sri Lanka Cricket Association is trying to transfer two million US dollars to another party. Sri Lanka Latest News
It states that no attempt was made to send the money in the accounts of Sri Lanka Cricket to a third party.
The announcement also states… “The Sri Lanka Cricket receives sponsorship income and other money in US dollars. The money is held in US dollar accounts to take advantage of exchange rate fluctuations. Also, Sri Lanka Cricket needs money to run its day-to-day activities in the country and to pay stakeholders and suppliers. For that purpose, usually required dollars are transferred from US dollar accounts to accounts maintained in Sri Lanka Rupees.
Therefore, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board said that it is wrong to say that “they are trying to withdraw money from the accounts of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board”.
