The Excise Department says that the licenses of five liquor manufacturing companies have been suspended for defaulting on tax arrears.Sri Lanka Latest News
Commenting on this, Excise Commissioner General Saman Jayasinghe says that the production of alcohol and the distribution of product stocks of those companies were also banned.
The Commissioner General of Excise also mentioned that since the annual license of those companies which had not paid the arrears for a long time expired on October 30, their licenses were not renewed.
He said that even though the production of alcohol in five alcohol production establishments has stopped, there will be no shortage of alcohol in the market as there are more alcohol production establishments.
