Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has informed the cabinet that an insurance of one million rupees will be implemented for a member of parliament from next year and the amount spent for it will exceed sixty million rupees. Sri Lanka Latest News

The annual budget provides the provision and the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation operates the insurance scheme.

The prime minister has pointed out that the insurance amount exceeded sixty million rupees due to the change in the premium value charged due to the change in the age limit of the MPs, the change in the tax amount due to the amendments in the social security tax and the value added tax. -Aruna
