10 crore worth of paddy stock in the Paddy Marketing Board is missing! Suspected an inside job!  I Sri Lanka Latest News

The Minister of Agriculture has instructed the chairman of the Paddy Marketing Board to provide a report within 3 days regarding the disappearance of rice stock in 5 warehouses belonging to the Paddy Marketing Board. Sri Lanka Latest News

10 crore worth of paddy in the warehouses of the Paddy Marketing Board has gone missing.

The Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industry Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera mentioned that rice has been stolen from Kurunegala and several other rice warehouses.

Information has been received that some officers in the main office as well as regional offices of the Paddy Marketing Board are involved in the disappearance of these rice stocks.

The Minister has informed the Chairman of the Marketing Board to complain to the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the related theft.

It is stated that the chairman has also been informed to conduct an investigation into the incident at the corporate level.
