The Central Environmental Authority says that the gazette notification issued banning single-use and short-lived plastics (plastic items that are thrown away only once) will be effective from tomorrow (01). (Sri Lanka Latest News)
According to that, 09 types of plastic will be subject to this ban, said the authority.
The primary purpose of banning single-use and short-term plastics has been to prevent major environmental pollution caused by plastic and to reduce environmental problems.
