The protest which was launched today to lift the ban imposed on the rehabilitation work on Boralukande Rajamahaha Viharaya was blocking the entrance to the District secretary’s office. While this was taking place a group of Buddhist monks forcibly entered the premises of District secretary office and disrupted the on-going district development meeting. Sri Lanka Latest News
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Development Committee co-chairmen, Governor Sendhil Thondaman and Member of Parliament Kapila Nuwan Athukorala.
Among the theros who stormed into the meeting were Boralu Kanda Rajamaha Viharadhika Ampitiye Seela Vamsa Tissa Morawewa Indraramadhika and Polhengoda Upa Rathana Thero.
It is special that the Regional Secretary Mr. P. Daneshwaran, who gave the written order prohibiting the development of Boralukanda Vihara by the order of Governor Sendhil Thondaman, was also present in this meeting.
They vowed not to leave this place until the prohibition order is lifted. Amidst the difficulties, everyone came to a decision to lift the ban on the advice of the governor.
In the face of Maha Sangharatna’s opposition, the Regional Secretary gave the written order to the Boralukanda Rajamaha Viharadhipati Ampitiya Shilawansa Tissa Thero the revoking order of the prohibition.
