In accordance with the Sri Lanka Telecom Act, the proposal has been passed as an urgent proposal to the Board of Directors, and accordingly, Riyas Mueller has been appointed by the majority vote of the Board of Directors to replace Mr. Rohan Fernando, Telecom Chairman.
Mr. Riyas Muller, the head of KPMG in Sri Lanka, was recently appointed by the President to the Board of Directors of Sri Lanka Telecom. It is reported that Mr. Rohan Fernando has continuously objected to the government’s decision to sell the shares owned by the Sri Lanka Telecom Company, and he was appointed as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom from last year 2020.
