The Panadura Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit stated that the millionaire businessman, the son of a millionaire businessman and another person who is running this drug trade were arrested.
It is suspected that this drug trafficking, identified for the first time in this country, is conducted from Maldives and Dubai.
The raid was carried out based on information received that an international drug trade was taking place in a luxurious three-storey house in the Samanpura area of Moratuwa.
According to the raid, the son of the Moratuwa Samanpura millionaire businessman, who is the distribution agent of this drug trade in Sri Lanka, was arrested.
Police seized 115 grams of unidentified specific drugs found in the suspect’s possession.
The police say that during the long interrogation of him, the roots of this drug trafficking, which had been going on for a long time, were revealed.
According to the information disclosed by the suspect, the millionaire businessman from Dehiwala Atthidiya area, who is the mastermind of the drug network, who is involved in importing boats and engines to Sri Lanka, has been arrested.
The police said that during the interrogation, they were able to uncover more information about this large-scale drug trafficking.
A resident of Anderson Road, Dehiwala, who assisted in the distribution of this racket, was also arrested with 20 grams of kush drug.
It has also been revealed that these specific drugs were hidden among toys and imported into Sri Lanka through airmail and courier services from Dubai.
Investigations so far revealed that after the goods were handed over to the suspect who was arrested in Samanpura, Moratuwa, he divided them again and packed them in toys and handed them over to Mahamolakaru in Atthidiya area of Dehiwala to be re-exported to the Maldives.
In addition to this, a police officer who conducted the raid said that investigations are revealing that this unidentified type of drug has been popularized among wealthy people who are addicted to night clubs.
The arrested suspects have been handed over to Dehiwala and Moratuwa Police for further investigation.
