Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said today (7) in the Parliament that the arrested MP Gajendra Kumara Ponnambalam has the right to come to the Parliament under the Privileges Act even though there are contradictions regarding his political policies.
The leader of the opposition said that he should pay attention to the fact that he has privileges regardless of the reason he was arrested and said that on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, Mr. Chamal Rajapaksa, who was the speaker at the time, had given a clear decision on the measures to be followed in the arrest of a member of parliament and it was Hansard. He also said that it has passed.
Therefore, the Leader of the Opposition further requested to pay attention to this matter and protect his privileges.
