It is reported that the Attorney General has named Western Province Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakoon as a suspect in the attack on Gotagogama peaceful protesters on May 9 last year.
Sources of the police department say that the Attorney General has reported to the police headquarters in this regard.
Accordingly, Deshbandu Tennakoon is scheduled to be brought before the court as a suspect in the attack in the future proceedings.
Senior DIG Deshbandu Tennakoon was responsible for this attack and how he had avoided the instructions of the Defense Secretary and the Inspector General of Police had been revealed on many occasions.
