Professor G. L Piers said that the fundamental of a democratic country is to hold elections at the appointed time, but the government has no interest in holding elections.
He also pointed out that the action of the Treasury Secretary is also a violation of the privileges of the members of Parliament.
Mr. Peiris pointed out that by interfering in the actions of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, it is a deadly attack on democracy, and that a joint statement has already been issued by all the members of the opposition to protect it, and that calling Supreme Court judges to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee will not be allowed under any circumstances.
He said this at the news conference of the Freedom People’s Alliance held at the main office of the Nawala Freedom People’s Assembly this morning (27).
