Inspector General of Police Mr. C.D. Wickramaratne’s service period is scheduled to end today, it has been learned that the President has given him a 3-month service extension.
Under the leadership of President Ranil Wickramasinghe, Minister of Public Security Tiran Alas, Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake, Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne a discussion was held at the President’s official residence yesterday (24) with the participation of Mr. Wickramaratne and the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province, Mr. Deshbandu Tennakoon.
After that, the President will forward the names to the Legislative Council for the post of the new Inspector General of Police and the members of the Legislative Council will appoint the new Inspector General of Police.
