A special gazette notification has been issued making the postal service an essential service.
As per the order of President Ranil Wickramasinghe, the Presidential Secretary published the gazette announcement.

Earlier, President Ranil Wickramasinghe had issued a gazette notice making ports, airports and passenger transport services and related services essential services.
