If the government does not arrange to hold the local government elections, the Tamil National Alliance will take steps to hold protests based on the northern and eastern provinces, said Mr. Shanakyaan Rasamanikkam, the member of parliament of that party.
He pointed out that his party has a 5% vote share in those two provinces alone.
